The Walkable Neighborhoods for Seniors (WN4S) Project Grant was awarded to USOAC in January 2003. Over the lifespan of this very successful 18 month project many other programs, projects, and events would come to fruition.
WN4S focuses on increasing the “walkability” of our neighborhoods for seniors. USOAC Board, staff, WN4S Peer Walk Club Leaders, and the WN4S Task Force work toward identifying the personal, physical, and environmental barriers that are preventing older adults from feeling safe, secure, and comfortable when walking throughout our communities.
It is our belief that if a neighborhood is walkable for seniors it is walkable for all ages. |
